Training and Research Activities

The PhD Course has a rich, flexible and modular training programme, structured according to the type of scientific offering, and the course-year of the PhD students.

The first level of the educational offering, which is compulsory for all the first-year students, takes into account the interdisciplinary nature of the programme and focuses on the methodological questions, the digital research tools, the role of AI in research project management, and the dissemination of scientific publications.

The second level, which is compulsory for the first-year and partly for the second-year students, is dedicated to a greater extent to inter-trans and multidisciplinary activities related to the PhD students’ lines of research, through the organization of seminars and Lectio Magistralis scheduled from the beginning of the academic year.

The third level, intended as an advanced training phase directly linked to the completion of the thesis, involves the organisation of seminars and/or study days, having the participation of nationally and internationally renowned scholars on topics and disciplinary areas which are central to the doctoral projects of the PhD students.

In addition to these three levels of internal training, there is also the UniPi cross-disciplinary teaching schedule, which is very useful for strengthening the necessary linguistic foundations, providing the tools needed to disseminate PhD students’ research, and correctly developping the research projects to be submitted in competitive calls for proposals.
